March 21 – Philosophy Posting
Tonight, I wrote a discussion post for my Philosophy class. This writing assignment was much more straightforward than others. My task was to read a short article, and create a discussion post summarizing the reading and highlighting specific parts that stood out to me. I began working late on the night that it was due which caused some added stress, but I still felt confident that I could complete the assignment. I have found that I often write more easily at night, and this was true for this discussion post even though I was a bit tired. After reading the article, I was able to quickly organize my thoughts and write out an effective post. Unlike some other writing assignments I have had to do this semester, I felt comfortable the entire time I was writing and did not have any prolonged periods of distractions. This could have been caused by this being a less formal form of writing. Because it was a discussion post, it felt more like a conversation than most of the other writing I do. I also think the fact that I was pressed for time during this assignment was a big reason for the motivation, as I knew that I did not have the opportunity to squander time while doing this post. This does not mean that it is always a good idea to wait until the last minute for an assignment, but in this case it did force me to focus and avoid any other distractions.
